Sodium acetate has many uses, e.g., as a food additive, intravenous electrolyte replenisher, in heating pads, as a deicer, and as part of buffer solutions. Determination of its water content may be necessary to avoid unwanted side reactions. Karl Fischer titration is used to determine water content in sodium acetate trihydrate in this Application Note. The MATi 10 allows this determination to be automated, saving users time in the laboratory.
