In this application note, Karl Fischer titration is used to determine the water content of urea.
Urea is used for many applications, e.g., in the development of pharmaceuticals and for manufacturing fertilizers. As a solid form, urea has a low moisture content (usually <0.25 wt%). In order to calculate the correct dosage amount and to avoid side reactions with other chemicals, the moisture content in urea must be determined. Karl Fischer titration is used to determine water in urea as shown in this Application Note.
