TacticID
Handheld Raman for field identification of chemicals, explosives, narcotics, and many other toxic industrial chemicals and materials.
Highlights
The TacticID family of products identifies unknown substances in the tactical operations of first responders, security operations, HazMat teams, and military first defenders. TacticID instruments are rugged and field-ready. They reduce risk and help manage uncertainty and response time without compromising the sample's integrity or the evidence chain.
The Metrohm TacticID-1064 ST uses "see-through" technology to measure samples inside bottles, envelopes, and even dense chemical storage containers. A unique data analysis algorithm quickly identifies and separates the container signature from the sample, accurately identifying both in seconds. A compact, ergonomic design with swappable batteries makes the TacticID-1064 ST a highly efficient tool for operators, delivering reliable performance, long operational times, and a great return on investment.
- Measure through packaging to avoid direct contact with the sample
- Actionable results display with comprehensive safety information
- Extensive and customisable libraries
- Advanced optical design and powerful data tools deliver fast results
Benefits
Easy field operation
TacticID analytical tools are designed for professionals who require reliable, rapid, and continuous performance. The ergonomic design and compact size make it ideal for use in the field. A large, responsive touchscreen makes operation easy, even when working in protective gear. Colour-coded results display illicit materials, suspected precursors and cutting agents, and chemical safety information so appropriate action can be taken.

Comprehensive detection capabilities
Metrohm delivers unmatched capability to scan more samples anywhere in the world. TacticID sampling accessories cover more samples in more scenarios, including confined or hard-to-reach spaces. The ability to see through containers allows non-invasive identification of substances without compromising safety. TacticID offers the freedom to work without constraints, delivering results when and where needed most.
Rapid and accurate chemical identification
TacticID systems deliver precise results for a wide variety of samples. A comprehensive Raman library, the largest of any handheld Raman manufacturer, identifies various substances – from illicit materials to chemical warfare agents. Our extensive collection of narcotics, novel psychedelic substances, and explosives is beneficial for hazmat teams and customs agents who encounter diverse and potentially dangerous materials. The combination of speed and accuracy makes TacticID an invaluable tool for rapid and accurate chemical identification.

Actionable data, traceable evidence, and fluorescence-free testing
Raman spectroscopy has high chemical specificity, giving the molecular fingerprint that can uniquely identify your sample using the extensive, specialised libraries on the TacticID products. A polystyrene validation cap is included to verify instrument performance.
With embedded camera, GPS, user-definable fields, and notes entry, all the relevant traceable information is included in the report and can be stored in the secure TID database.
The TacticID-1064 ST with 1064 nm laser excitation produce fluorescence-free spectral signatures, allowing users to identify dark and coloured materials and tough street samples, directly through packaging.
Flexible sampling accessories
Utilising Raman technology, analysis can be performed through transparent containers, maintaining sample integrity and minimising operator exposure and sample contamination.
You can measure powders, solids, and liquids directly or through plastic bags, vials, and bottles with optimised sampling accessories. The TacticID-1064 ST has the added capability of see-measurement through different packaging including opaque plastic bottles, fiber, and paper packages.

Safe, fast, and easy sampling
TacticID works on the principles of Raman spectroscopy, making sampling safe, fast, and easy:
- Raman spectroscopy is a non-destructive analysis method, meaning that the sample is not damaged
- Avoid contact with the sample by scanning through plastics, bottles, and other translucent packaging materials using optimised sampling accessories
- Typical unknown material identification time lies between 10 to 40 seconds, following fast instrument start-up
- Add customised libraries and create your own libraries quickly & easily to stay one step ahead of emerging threats
